Successful Applicant Profile
Successful applicants for the UCB-UCSF
Joint Medical Program have strong academic records, a firm and clear
motivation for medicine, as evidenced in work experience, activities
and interests, and a strong interest in the Master's portion of the
Joint Medical Program with a commitment to learning research
methodology. The Program offers a student-centered,
interactive learning environment, and we seek applicants who are
interested in our small group, case-based, problem-oriented core
curriculum.
Applicants must be able to articulate their interest in doing
health-related research but are not expected to have a prepared research
topic. Experience in developing an independent project while in
school or a work environment is beneficial in preparation for completing
the Masters curriculum. An introductory statistical course is not
currently an admission requirement but is looked upon favorably.
MCAT and GPA averages tend to be similar to
those profiled at the
UCSF
website.
